Step-by-Step Instructions

Since 2015, the OSU Faculty Handbook has indicated that all faculty members are responsible for diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. All faculty position descriptions written since 2016 incorporate these expectations.

In this video, you’ll see how Digital Measures has been customized so that you can identify your diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Administrators will be able to evaluate your efforts in annual review, promotion and tenure decisions.

Twenty-six of the thirty-six data input screens available in Digital Measures now accept inclusion data. These screens are distributed across all of the major sections on the landing page.

In addition, the Annual Activity and OSU CV reports are edited to include activities. Let’s take a look at these changes.

First, the data entry screens:

My example is a publication. As I scroll down the screen, I come to a field labeled “Inclusivity of this activity.” A help screen with examples is provided. Complete the field if an activity was intentionally designed to enhance DEI, or if DEI efforts were an indirect outcome of the activity. An example of each is provided in the help, as well as an example of what is not reportable as a DEI effort.

When appropriate, describe how the activity supports diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. I have written four sentences; shorter would be even better.

This field is optional for any record you create, but entering any text into the field will trigger Digital Measures to include that text in subsequent Annual Activity or CV reports.

Enter your content and save.

Now, let’s see how this information is used in reports.

Here is a screen shot from an annual activity report. Notice the superscript DEI at the end of the title. Whenever you enter text in the inclusivity field, the title of the activity will be marked in this way.

Finally, notice a new section at the end of the report. It briefly summarizes all inclusivity citations, and the text I entered. The CV reports will also include this content.
