Faculty Success (formerlly Digital Measures) provides allows faculty to import publication citations directly from PubMed, Crossref, Scopus, Web of Science, and ORCID, making data entry faster and more accurate.  Detailed instructions about how to export BibTex files from EndNote, Google Scholar, Mendeley, RefWorks, or Zotero are available in another help document.

You will integrate your ORCID iD into Faculty Success once so that you can quickly and securely import information from ORCID. When you “Authorize” the connection you will authenticate your iD by registering for an ORCID iD or by signing into your account if you already have one, ensuring connection with your ORCID record. When your iD has been authenticated, the ORCID icon will display within the Import Publications tool.

Don’t yet have an ORCID iD? See ORCID® identifiers at OSU

Step 1: Connect your ORCID iD to Faculty Success

  • After logging into your profile, select the Intellectual Contributions screen. In the upper right-hand corner of your publication summary page, find and select the “Import” button.

The right-hand column allows you to Import from Third Party. Choose ORCID and Create or Connect Your ORCID iD

  • Register or sign in via ORCID.

  • Complete the authorization process.

Note: At this time, Faculty Success will only ready your limited-access information. It does not actively push data into ORCID.

Step 2: Search ORCID

  • You will see the publications associated with your ORCID iD.

Note: Faculty Success will only import records from ORCID marked as public or trusted-party. Records marked as only me cannot be imported.

Step 3: Eliminate Duplicates

  • Any publications that might be duplicates are presented to you for review. Limit the publications that are displayed to those that still need review or all publications using the drop-down menu at the top.

  • For each potential duplicate, choose Skip or Import at the bottom of the screen.

  • Select Continue in the upper-right hand corner of the screen when all duplicates have been addressed.

Step 4: Choose Collaborators

If a collaborator is faculty at OSU and has a Faculty Success profile, the citation will be automatically linked to that profile.

The import wizard will present you with a list of the names of all ambiguous authors in the citations. You must link the names of collaborators to user accounts in Faculty Success or indicate that there is no account to link to. There are three possibilities for any name:

  1. That more than one collaborator has a very like name (example: Smith, S.E. could refer to Samuel Edward Smith or to Susan Elizabeth Smith.

  1. The collaborator is faculty at OSU and has a Faculty Success profile and the name could match multiple profiles. (example: Smith, S.E. could refer to Samuel Edward Smith or to Susan Elizabeth Smith.)

  1. Select the correct user account. Recall that not all colleges at OSU use Faculty Success.

Note: To advance to the next step, you must resolve all names that matched multiple users.

  1. The collaborator matches no user accounts, as for faculty from other institutions or OSU faculty affiliated with colleges not using Faculty Success.

Each of these cases can be resolved by choosing among Select Correct User Account, View All User Accounts, and No Matching Account. The first two options allow you to match a collaborator to an OSU Faculty Success profile. The third retains the name in the citation but does not match the collaborator to any account. Continue the process until all ambiguous collaborator names have been resolved.

Step 5: Review Publications and Import

  • This step enables you to review the publications that you are about to load to ensure there are no errors.

  • Use the forward and reverse arrows to move through the publications.

  • Select the Finish Import button, then the Import button to complete the process.

Citations are immediately loaded into your profile. You will receive a records successfully imported message.
