Step-by-Step instructions

Document your extension consultations. Faculty with field appointments devote considerable time in 1:1 consultation with stakeholders, whether that’s emails, phone contacts, farm visits, office walk-ins, or ask an expert.

Document this important effort by creating annual non-credit instruction records for the various contact types.  You may wish to confer with your RD to determine how finely to divide up these activities. (Could walk-ins and farm visits be reported together? Emails and phone contacts?)

Start by creating a new non-credit instruction record. The title should indicate the type of consultation and the year. Instruction type – choose “other” and indicate “stakeholder consultation” under “explanation of other.” Record the number of educational contacts. Enter a year date and save the record.

Using this method, you will return periodically and update the educational contacts as they accrue, and resave the record.

At the beginning of a new calendar year, begin a new record.
