Many faculty with campus and field appointments deliver guest lectures in credit courses for which they are not the instructor of record in Banner. For some, this can be a significant annual contribution. Because Banner creates scheduled teaching records according to faculty ID numbers, faculty cannot create Scheduled Teaching records.

Guest Lecture activities are documented in Digital Measures in the TEACHING section, in the Non-Credit Instruction screen:

  1. Add a new item.
  2. The Instruction Title should address what you taught about.
  3. Choose Instruction Type “guest lecture.”
  4. Now, scroll down to “If guest lecture in credit course:” and complete the fields.
  5. If the guest lectureship was delivered at another institution, enter the name of the institution after the name of the instructor of record.
